In July 2023, Intel and ASUS made headlines when Intel decid to shut down its NUC mini PC line, and ASUS instead stepp in to produce and design future NUC systems. Luckily, ASUS is delivering on that promise by making a variety of mini PCs. While these are niche products, today I’m reviewing an even more niche product: the ASUS ExpertCenter ASUS ExpertCenter PN42. This mini PC aims to deliver high energy efficiency, quiet operation, ample connectivity, a small size, and good build quality, all at a very low price. Verdict
This product isn’t for everyone, despite its low price and high energy efficiency.
I appreciate its build quality, fanless design, and ASUS ExpertCenter excellent connectivity,
but its hardware is mostly suit for computing new life agrovet tasks that don’t require a lot of processing power.
The ASUS ExpertCenter PN42 is a good choice for many specializ uses: signage, point-of-sale, kiosks, smart vending machines, or simple low-power servers for home networks and small businesses. For example, you could use it for private cloud storage, to manage a CCTV system and store its footage, or as a simple email server.
